How it works

Video transcription from a file
Upload a video in the dashboard or through the API. The file must contain an audio track.
Files up to 2 GB
The dashboard uploads in chunks. Through the API, use one request up to 95 MB or a chunked upload up to 2 GB.
Text for reading and editing
Copy the finished transcript or download TXT. JSON preserves the segment text and timestamps for your application.
Subtitle files
Download SRT or VTT to attach to your player or open in a video editor. transcript1 produces the file; it does not burn captions into the video.
Speaker labels when requested
Turn on Identify speakers or pass diarize=true. Voices are labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on.

Choose your video file on the upload page and start transcription. When it completes, open the result to read or copy the text. The API also supports chunked uploads for video files up to 2 GB.

Does video transcription read text shown on screen?

transcript1 transcribes the audio track. It does not extract on-screen text from video frames.

Can I download captions as well as text?

Yes. A completed transcript is available as TXT, JSON, SRT and VTT. Reading another format does not cost additional minutes.

Can I try converting video to text before paying?

New accounts receive 60 free minutes once after email verification, with no card required. Each transcription costs 1 credit per audio minute, rounded up. Failed and canceled transcriptions are not charged.
