Sign in or send a key
Claude and ChatGPT connect with OAuth. Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and agents send an API key as a Bearer token.

transcribe, get_transcription, list_transcriptions, create_upload, get_upload_status, complete_upload, delete_transcription and get_account.
Built for long transcripts
Results are paged at segment boundaries and the default text format has a timestamp on every line.
Safe retries
transcribe reuses a matching transcription from the last 24 hours instead of charging again.

Which clients can use the YouTube MCP server?

Claude and ChatGPT through custom connectors, Cursor and VS Code with one-click installs, Claude Code with one command, and any client that supports remote MCP servers.

Do I need an API key?

Claude and ChatGPT sign you in with OAuth. Other clients send an API key that starts with t1_ in the Authorization header. Create one on the API keys page of the dashboard.

Can the assistant transcribe a local file?

Yes, in two steps. create_upload reserves a chunked upload, the assistant sends the chunks over HTTP outside MCP, then complete_upload queues the transcription.

Does MCP use the same minutes as the API?

Yes. MCP tools call the same API with your credential, so charging, rate limits and error codes are identical.
