Use the Twitch VOD transcript generator to turn a public clip or completed VOD into timestamped text. Locate a spoken explanation, review a quote or plan an edit without typing out the recording. This transcribes recorded speech, not live streams or Twitch chat.

- Public clips and completed VODs
- Speech-to-text, not live transcription
- TXT, SRT, VTT and JSON exports

## Find the explanation inside the recording

### Clips or longer recordings

Choose one clip or a completed VOD, not a channel page or an ongoing stream.

### Locate spoken commentary

Use timestamped text to find a strategy explanation or a question answered during a recording.

### Review the audio

Game sounds, music and overlapping voices can obscure speech. Check important lines before quoting them.

### Keep visual context separate

The transcript does not describe gameplay, read the screen or collect Twitch chat.

## Start with a completed recording

Open the specific Twitch clip or completed VOD and copy its public URL. A channel address does not select a recording. Completed VOD links use twitch.tv/videos/ followed by an id; clips can use clips.twitch.tv or a channel clip URL. The source documentation lists the accepted forms.

Check that the recording can be fetched without signing in. Subscriber restrictions, deletion or a login requirement can prevent access even if it plays in your own browser. transcript1 does not accept account cookies or private credentials, and it cannot bypass access restrictions. An ongoing stream is not a supported input.

## From commentary to a reviewable transcript

Learn [how to get a Twitch VOD transcript](https://transcript1.com/blog/transcribe-twitch-clips-and-vods), build a coaching note from a clip and keep its timing distinct from a longer VOD.

### 1. Submit the recording

Paste the link in the dashboard. Choose a clip when you only need that excerpt; adding a time parameter to a VOD URL does not trim the media.

### 2. Wait for the result

Twitch uses AI speech-to-text. Automatic language detection is a starting point; speaker identification organizes voices but does not identify creators by name.

### 3. Check specialist wording

Replay names, item terminology and short commands against the audio. A fluent sentence can still mishear a game-specific term.

### 4. Save a source-aware note

Keep the recording URL beside the timestamp and your reviewed quotation. Mark visual observations separately from spoken evidence.

## Use the transcript for coaching or editing

For a coaching review, find the passage explaining a decision and listen to the question or action before it. Write your own note about what the screen shows. Speech alone may not establish the score, player position or menu setting that prompted the explanation.

A clip and its parent VOD have different timelines. Keep the clip URL with clip-relative times rather than assuming a timestamp points to the same instant in the VOD. If your edit removes pauses or adds an introduction, subtitle times from the submitted recording need realignment.

Choose TXT for reading notes, JSON for segment data, or SRT and VTT for an editor or player. Exporting a caption file does not publish subtitles back to Twitch or add styled captions to a video.

## The same recording through an API or assistant

The REST API accepts the public recording URL and returns a job id. Keep that id to read the result rather than creating another job. Twitch accepts auto or stt, not captions-only; YouTube and X retain captions, as do qualified TikTok and Bluesky native tracks. A transcript of a stream recording is not a chat export or a live monitoring feed.

Successful jobs cost one credit per media minute, rounded up. New accounts receive 60 free minutes once after email verification. Failed and canceled jobs are not charged; reading or exporting an existing result does not start another transcription. Review the recording duration before submitting a long VOD.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I transcribe a live Twitch stream?

No. Use an accessible completed VOD or public clip. The service does not join an ongoing broadcast.

### Will a transcript include chat or gameplay details?

No. It covers spoken audio, not chat messages, screen text or visual actions. Add those observations separately.

### Can I submit a subscriber-only recording?

The link must be accessible without authentication. Account cookies and private credentials are not supported. Upload an original recording you have permission to use instead.
