Use the Dailymotion transcript generator to convert a public video to text you can search, review and quote. Submit the video page or dai.ly link, then keep the timestamped transcript beside the recording when preparing notes or an interview excerpt.

- Public individual video links
- Native SRT captions or AI speech-to-text
- Text, subtitle and JSON exports

## Read the interview, then check the recording

### Video and share URLs

Submit a dailymotion.com/video/ link, supported embed link or dai.ly share URL for one video.

### Search longer answers

Find a topic in the transcript and use its timestamp to return to the surrounding question and answer.

### Review proper names

Check people, places and figures against the audio before quoting or indexing an interview.

### Separate audio from graphics

On-screen headlines, lower thirds and written video descriptions are not part of the spoken transcript.

## Which Dailymotion videos can I transcribe?

Choose an individual public video, not a channel, playlist or search page. Supported forms include dailymotion.com/video/ followed by the video id, embed/video/ links and dai.ly short links. A title suffix on a video URL is accepted. A link being recognized does not guarantee the media is still available.

The video must be prerecorded and accessible without a logged-in account. Private, login-gated or unavailable recordings cannot be retrieved. transcript1 does not use account cookies or accept private credentials. Use an original file upload when you have a recording you can use locally rather than trying to bypass a restriction.

## Get a reviewable interview transcript

Learn [how to transcribe a Dailymotion video to text](https://transcript1.com/blog/transcribe-dailymotion-videos) and distinguish a spoken statement from a headline printed over it.

### 1. Confirm the edition

Play the recording and confirm its language and duration. A re-upload or shortened edit can have a different timeline even when the title looks identical.

### 2. Submit the URL

Paste the video link in the dashboard. Use automatic language detection or supply the appropriate language hint. Request speaker labels when separating interview turns will help.

### 3. Review the passage

Search the completed text for the subject, then listen to the question and answer together. Check names and numbers before using a quotation.

### 4. Keep the source trail

Save the video URL and the timestamp beside your reviewed excerpt. Note any correction separately so later readers can find the evidence.

## What a video transcript leaves out

A news interview may include a studio introduction, a field recording and a translated voiceover. The transcript reflects the audible speech, not an independent translation or an identification of everyone on screen. Overlapping voices and music can make a line uncertain. A speaker label is not proof of a person’s identity.

Lower thirds, charts and the title above the player may supply context that is never spoken. Record those observations separately after watching the video. The text does not establish whether a claim in the interview is true; it helps locate the words so you can check and cite them responsibly.

Dailymotion auto uses a usable original-language direct SRT caption track first, otherwise speech-to-text. Caption playlists are not supported. Like YouTube and X, it accepts captions-only, which never downloads audio or falls back to STT; no usable track means no_captions. source=stt and speaker labels bypass captions. Native captions report dailymotion_captions with segment timing only; caption_kind is null when unknown, or auto_generated for identified automatic tracks. A dubbed edition may differ from the original recording, so review the selected track and audio.

## Export or automate without losing the source

TXT is convenient for reading and annotation. JSON keeps segment timing for an application. SRT and VTT provide timed subtitle cues for your own player or editing workflow; review them against the exact edition of the video. They do not publish subtitles to Dailymotion.

The REST API accepts the same public link. Save its returned job id, wait for completion and read the stored result. Successful jobs cost one credit per media minute, rounded up; failed and canceled jobs are not charged. New accounts receive 60 free minutes once after email verification. Another export from a completed result does not consume more transcription minutes.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I use a dai.ly link?

Yes. Supported dai.ly share URLs can identify an individual video. Availability is checked when the media is retrieved.

### Will the result contain on-screen headlines?

No. The transcript covers speech, not frame text or the written video description. Preserve graphics separately when they matter.

### Can I transcribe a playlist or live channel?

No. Choose one accessible prerecorded video. A playlist, channel page or ongoing stream is not an individual recorded-media input.
